In June 2021, SPICI signed an agreement with the Iranian Association for Management of Technology and Innovation (IRAMOT) and the International Technology Transfer Network (ITTN) in order to co-create a joint technology cooperation and innovation programme between Italy, China and Iran.

ITTN is an organisation established under the guidance of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) while IRAMOT is an Iranian non-profit organisation that promotes education, training and research in the fields of technology management and innovation.

Through the agreement, the three partners intend to create new opportunities for international networking in order to strengthen systemic relations between Chinese, Italian and Iranian operators in the fields of innovation and technological development.

In fact, the strategic cooperation agreement between SPICI, ITTN and IRAMOT was designed to promote and develop joint research activities and exchange best practices in the field of innovation and technology management, as well as to publish specialized reports. It aims at encouraging visits of delegations in each country, undertaking joint efforts to leverage the financial support made available by each government, encouraging cultural and scientific exchanges for the cultural, educational, technological and entrepreneurial growth of each country.

One of the first initiatives launched was the selection of technological and innovative projects developed by Iranian startups, SMEs, spinoffs and research groups to participate in the China Forum Zhongguancun (ZGC) 2021.

The roundtable entitled ‘Strengthening scientific and technological cooperation between Italy, China and Iran’ was also held on 2 August 2021. The event was attended by members of the Iranian scientific ecosystem and focused on presenting the European and Chinese innovation landscape and policies to support science and technology.
