The 5th edition of the China-Italy Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing has concluded, which, after opening in Bergamo, moved to Naples.

From July 17th to 21st, there were 5 days of lectures, labs, academies, and guided tours for the Italian and Chinese students who participated in the Summer School, a training program on advanced manufacturing.

The closing event took place on Friday, July 21st, at the Church of San Marcellino e Festo, the campus of the Federico II University of Naples. During the well-attended event, participation diplomas were awarded, and the program’s outcomes were presented.

The meeting, moderated by Dr. Vincenzo Lipardi, President of SPICI srl, was opened by Prof. Giovanni Breglio, Professor of Electronics at the University of Naples Federico II and program leader.

The speakers included:

  • Prof. Gianluca D’Urso, Full Professor, University of Bergamo;
  • Dr. Jason Wang, Associate Professor at Tsinghua University and Founder of the SciTech Automation Alliance;
  • Prof. Antonia Tulino, Vice Director of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology;
  • Dr. Chiara Romano, Head of the Internationalization Division of SPICI;
  • Dr. Zhang Jindan, Administrative Manager, Electrical Engineering Department, Tsinghua University.

Highlighting the event’s importance were speeches by Prof. Matteo Lorito, Rector of the Federico II University of Naples, and Prof. Sergio Cavalieri, Rector of the University of Bergamo.

The event was concluded by Mrs. Valeria Fascione, Councilor for Innovation, Research, and Startups of the Campania Region.

The Summer School 2023 was an incredible moment of interaction between experts and also among young people from different countries and cultures. It demonstrated how science and technology are powerful tools for building bridges between different worlds.

We are confident that the knowledge gained and connections made during the Summer School will have a significant impact on the future of these young people.
