The Final of “China Overseas Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition” took place online and offline in Wuhan on 12 October following the previous stage of the competition held on 31 July.

This is an annual event of CAST (China Association of Science and Technology) and co-organized by ITTN (International Technology Transfer Network) in collaboration with SPICI. It was established to introduce leading overseas high-tech projects which stand out for their originality and creativity and to attract high-level foreign talents to Wuhan.

83 projects were presented during this year’s final competition. They were divided into 3 areas of expertise:

  1. Big Health
  2. Electronic Information Technology
  3. Advanced Manufacturing & New Materials

The Italian biopharmaceutical startup Vaxxit, was the only Italian company selected for the final competition in the field of Big Health. The topic of “Tackling Global Health Diseases – HIV vaccines” was presented by Mr. Giovanni Cozzone, the CEO of Vaxxit, focusing on vaccines against HIV, Herpes Simples Virus (HSV) and M. Tuberculosis (TB).

After many years of international collaborations in the field of research and commercialization, Vaxxit is currently seeking partnerships within the Chinese innovation ecosystem.
